Symposium: Great East Japan Earthquake and Sustainable Education on Disaster Risk Reduction:

Greater Sendai Regional Center of Expertise in Education for Sustainability,
United Nations University designated organization to promote Education for
Sustainable Development (ESD), is hosting a symposium about sustainable
education on disaster risk reduction. Miyagi Universeity of Education is
coordinating the symposium as an administrative bureau of RCE Greater Sendai.

UNESCO, MEXT and MUE will hold a forum “Fostering DRR through Education for Sustainable Development: Towards a Better Future for Children”. After reviewing the past 10 years of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), this symposium will discuss the future role of ESD for disaster risk reduction. |

The participants will go to schools affiliated to Miyagi University of Education
to see comprehensive and disability-inclusive DRR.
Study Tour by MUE Students:
March 18, 2015 (Wed) 8:00-
This tour will be led by MUE students who are from disaster-hit areas of the Great East Japan Earthquake. The participants will go to schools, etc, and introduce to their recovery process and various educational support they received.
